The word in Huntington is that a wealthy donor is ready to put up a million dollars toward construction of a new Marshall U ballpark. The money isn't pure charity: he'd see the money used for a ballpark at Kinetic Park and then participate in the development of the site. The donor would also reportedly move one of his businesses to the development. There have been plenty of ballpark proposals for Marshall U and Huntington, some realistic and many unrealistic. We've also seen interest from the independent Frontier League in that market; working on a joint ballpark plan may not be the worst idea if it means more private capital for the project. |
