The inability of the Washington Legislature to approve $150 million in funding means a $300 million makeover of Husky Stadium is dead for now.
The merits of the project -- bringing a sorely outdated stadium in the modern era -- was steamrolled by bad times, as state officials didn't want to be seen as spending money on a frill at a time money was being curtailed in other more vital eras. That's a very valid concern, but that doesn't make UW athletic director Scott Woodward feel any better about the legislative defeat. |
