As the South Carolina Gamecocks prepare to launch the season at a new ballpark, former stars reflect on their favorite moments at Sarge Frye Field.
Interestingly, former Gamecocks star Justin Smoak -- now in the Texas Rangers farm system -- chose to focus on the very last game played at Sarge Frye:
Smoak's teammate and fellow infielder, Reese Havens came up to bat with the score tied between USC and Tennessee at eight. With a man on second Havens blasted a walk-off home run to right center field with one out to send Sarge Frye Field off in style.
"That was by far (the best memory)," Smoak said. "It was a good way to put out The Sarge. It was a good way to close The Sarge for the fans and everything else."
